Overview:

SB Overseas is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation based in Brussels, Belgium. Founded in 2013, SB Overseas provides direct and urgent humanitarian aid to civilians in conflict zones in Syria and in refugee camps in neighboring countries. SB Overseas provides hope and opportunity to women and children whose lives have been torn apart by conflict by providing education, emergency aid and by fostering empowerment for refugees in Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, and Belgium. The position of Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and return of volunteers destined for the training centres in Lebanon, as well as sourcing volunteers for SB HQ, (SB Espoir and SB Campagne) in Brussels. 

 Primary Tasks:

  • Forecast numbers of volunteer teachers needed for Lebanon centres 
  • Sourcing volunteers for SB HQ, SB Espoir and SB Campagne in Brussels 
  • Coordinate continuous recruitment advertising via social media 
  • Acknowledge receipt of volunteer applications 
  • Maintain database of CV’s and cover letters of interested candidates 
  • Evaluate CV’s and cover letters and prepare short list for review 
  • Prepare standard questions for shortlist candidates 
  • Coordinate video interviews for shortlist candidates 
  • Conduct interviews of prospective volunteers 
  • Prepare prioritized list of candidates with interview notes for approval by chairperson
  • Selection of successful candidates, including possible reserve candidates 
  • Notification of successful candidates (and reserve candidates) 
  • Notification of unsuccessful applicants 
  • For Lebanon: Coordinate in-country arrival/departure of volunteer teachers (essential documentation, arrival between 1st-5th of the month and departure between 25th-30th of the month, etc.) 
  • For Brussels: Coordinate the volunteer contract signature and facilitate contact with Team Leader SB Espoir and SB Campagne, as applicable 

 Secondary Tasks:

  • Point of contact for Team Leader Weekly Reports from Lebanon 
  • Point of contact for volunteer teacher extension requests 
  • Point of contact for end-of-tour volunteer teachers’ feedback 
  • Point of contact for evaluations of volunteer teachers from Lebanon 
  • Exploring funding options (sponsors, partnerships, etc.) for volunteer teacher programmes 

Profil recherché

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Volunteer experience 
  • Refugee experience 
  • Multi-national experience 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Fluent in English 
  • Very good Excel skills 

 Desirable Qualifications:

  • Second language – French and/or Arabic preferred
  • Computer skills Recruitment experience

Remarks:

  • Occasional travel, usually to Lebanon
