Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action Against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

The general objective for this position in Malawi is to ensure that the Blantyre and Chikwawa offices are supported with oversight and control on the application of financial procedures and controls, alongside administrative tasks and some HR support responsibilities. Effective compliance is required to effectively manage the financial and HR resources for the mission, and to support the development of budgets, closing of accounts, and harmonization of processes and procedures between departments.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • Lead the financial management of the Base and Sub Offices
  • Ensure appropriate bank management in the base and capital
  • To ensure appropriate training and support to the administration team in the base
  • Accountancy and budget management
  • To ensure appropriate staff management
     

CANDIDATE PROFILE
     

  • University degree in Business Administration and/or management, Economics, or other related field     
  • Knowledge of Administration and Accountancy procedures is mandatory
  • Knowledge of HR procedures
  • Knowledge of working with SAGA accountancy software
  • Knowledge of working with budgets, forecasting, and liquidations
  • Knowledge of functional linkages between technical, financial, and logistics      
  • Previous experience of at least 2 years in a similar positions is required (Action Against Hunger experience preferable)
  • Knowledge of donor regulations and requirements (USAID, DFID, KfW/BMZ, UNICEF, SIDA, ECHO, EU, WFP, etc)
  • Knowledge of financial accountability and transparency
  • Knowledge of gender financing desirable
  • Knowledge of processes and workflows within humanitarian and development programming
  • Previous experience working with Action Against Hunger highly desirable, in a similar role and function
  • English (mandatory), Spanish (useful), other languages considered an asset
  • IT and specific systems: Full Microsoft office package (excel, word, etc), Familiarity with accounting software desirable
  • International mobility mandatory, National mobility ad hoc

REMUNERATIVE PACKAGE

We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package:

  • Formal work contract: 6 months
  • Base: Blantyre.
  • Area/department: Administration and Finance
  • Compensation package: from 22.607,03 € to 27.287,03 € gross/year divided in 12 payments and based on experience y context. This salary includes a base salary + context plus + living expenses and per Diem (*)
